Hawaii Online Gambling legalization fails

03/20/2012 :  ANOTHER ONLINE GAMBLING LEGALISATION INITIATIVE RUNS OUT OF TIME (Update)

Hawaii bill is off the agenda for now

January's renewed Hawaiian attempt to get a bill on online gambling legalization through the state Legislature has faltered and failed, out of time in a busy session.

Confirming the failure of the measure, one of its supporters, Rep. Angus L.K. McKelvey, said it may be possible to again introduce the bill at some future stage, but for now it had to be regarded as dead.

Hawaii and Utah remain the only US states where there is no legal gambling at all.

The Card Player information website reports: "…the issue of legalized gambling in Hawaii has been studied and considered numerous times since statehood. More than 150 attempts at legalizing gambling have came and went over the past 30 years. The last crack at online poker failed in April 2011."
