NetNames negotiates sale of domain as IG seeks to rebrand
 
Middleman company NetNames has revealed that it has successfully negotiated the acquisition of the domain IG.com for the  UK financial spread and contracts for difference betting specialist IG Index group, which plans to use the domain in its move to re-brand.
 
IG is currently merging the spread betting and CFD products of IG Index and IG under a single IG brand and single domain name, and as part of the rebranding exercise, IG wanted to acquire the IG.com domain name.
 
This was in use and held by a major Brazilian search portal, with which NetNames engaged as broker on IG's behalf.
 
The middleman said that it had negotiated the price down 50 percent, although exact details were not disclosed. During the project, NetNames had worked closely with IG's legal team in closing the deal, a spokesman said.
