The many online and mobile gambling companies on the Isle of Man will have expanded hosting services available from Manx Telecom by the end of January 2014 following the completion of a new GBP 10 million data centre in Douglas.

The three phase project will deliver a new purpose-built Tier 3 data centre located near to Manx Telecom’s headquarters.

Phase one of the Greenhill Data Centre is scheduled to be open for business on January 1, 2014, becoming Manx Telecom’s third data centre in total, its second Tier 3 data centre, and by far the biggest of any on the Island in terms of rack space.

Manx Telecom is currently the only Isle of Man hosting provider with a purpose built Tier 3 facility, and already hosts the world's largest poker sites PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker, and Europe's largest bookmaker PaddyPower among others.

The telecoms company has also announced a partnership with major data and predictive analytics specialists Idiro Technologies, which will combine Manx Telecom’s hosting expertise with Idiro’s unique predictive and social network analysis platform, providing the ability to handle big data, analyse it, and effectively use it for commercial advantage.

Manx Telecom Intelligent Analytics – powered by Idiro – will be an addition to the company’s hosting and e-gaming proposition and can be applied in a number of sectors including e-gaming, financial services, hospitality, retail, and utilities.

Commenting on the Idiro partnership, Manx Telecom sales director Fergal McKenna said: “We can now help our clients understand what ‘big data’ says about their customers and most importantly, which segments to target for acquisition, retention and growth through more effective direct marketing and social network influence”.

Manx Telecom has played a significant part in the rapid growth of the Isle of Man’s e-gaming sector, investing more than GBP 120 million in the Island’s communications infrastructure over the last decade.

Its e-gaming solutions range from entry level packages and customer co-located platforms to multi-site load balanced solutions and fully outsourced managed services with disaster recovery and global connectivity.

The company boasts the largest pool of IT and telecoms experts on the Island, including 70 engineers trained in IP technology, of which 30 are specialist data centre and core network engineers dedicated to delivering enterprise hosting solutions for global e-gaming clients.
