Isle of Man Acknowledges US Tribal Internet Gaming Alliance

It's a tenuous link, but the common interest is internet gambling with safety and integrity.
 
The Tribal Internet Gaming Alliance in the United States and the government of the Isle of Man in Europe are distant in terms of both geography and demographics, but according to a TIGA statement this week, have similar motivation: to facilitate, regulate and promote legal internet gaming to the highest standards of security, integrity and accountability.
 
The statement announced that the Isle of Man government, itself respected as a reputable online gambling licensing and regulatory jurisdiction, has officially given its recognition and support to TIGA, which is an alliance of internet-interested US tribal groups with the goal of establishing online gambling in tribal preserves within the framework of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act.
 
The Isle of Man letter notes that TIGA's mission is to "….facilitate, offer, regulate and promote legal internet gaming on behalf of its member tribes, consistent with the highest standards of security, integrity and accountability and [the Isle of Man government] sees this as a positive platform from which TIGA members can act together…for the benefit [of] its member tribes.”
 
The Isle of Man letter suggests that the European jurisdiction would be happy to discuss the establishment of "inter-jurisdictional agreements for mutual benefit" with TIGA, although it does not specify particular areas of engagement.
 
TIGA is making slow headway in the US at present, with just two member tribes on its membership list – the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians and the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Tribe of Chippewa Indians.  Neither have commercially noteworthy online operations live at present.
