JungleMan Dan Cates banks $430 000 in one nigh

Posted 1/22/11 : Dan Cates banks $430 000 in one night’s clashes with some of the best nosebleed players

Dan ‘Jungleman12' Cates continued his rise to nosebleed fame as the week came to a close by taking on some of the Internet's top high stakes players and emerging with a profit of $430 000 in a single night.

The young pro has been making major waves on the internet nosebleed tables since his rise to prominence last year, culminating in a triumphant end to 2010 as the biggest online earner.

Cutting his latest swathe through the top ranks, Cates took on Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen and Viktor ‘Isildur1' Blom in an action packed series of clashes on Full Tilt Poker.  Starting with Ivey on the heads up $300/$600 PLO tables, Cates made $240 000 in only 146 hands before moving on to his next challenger, Gus Hansen.

Playing $500/$1000 PLO, the Jungleman took Hansen for almost $120 000 in just 26 hands.

Next up was a switch to the Pokerstars site and the audacious and aggressive Isildur1. Playing $50/$100 NLHE this session turned out to be the most prolonged and exciting confrontation of the night. It was a trash-talking clash that lasted for 2262 hands with the lead sweeping from one player to the other repeatedly until Isildur1 retreated, leaving Cates with another $60 000 to bank.

According to independent monitoring sites Cates is already up well over $750 000 in 2011…but it's early days yet, and there are still plenty of sharks out there keen to reduce his bankroll.
