First E-sports Wager in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS TAKES FIRST E-SPORTS WAGERS THIS WEEKEND

William Hill in the United States announced Friday that in partnership with the Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino, it has been given permission by the Nevada Gaming Control Board to take the first Nevada wagers on an eSports event this weekend.
 
The pioneering wagers will be accepted on the upcoming Intel Extreme Masters Oakland League of Legends tournament, according to ESPN reports.
 
Commenting on the development, Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval said:
 
"This announcement is a major step toward ensuring Nevada becomes the eSports capital of the world. By embracing this unique opportunity and incorporating innovation and technology into our gaming industry, were expanding the potential of one of our oldest industries."
 
William Hill will accept wagers on which one of six eSports teams will emerge victorious from the two-day eSports tournament, along with matchup wagers on Saturday’s two League of Legends quarter-finals.
