Fighting Back Against Adelson

Saturday January 18, 2014 :  FIGHT BACK ON ADELSON ONLINE GAMBLING BANNING ATTEMPT (Update)

The Poker Players Alliance appeals to US players to voice their opinions.

The Poker Players Alliance is again revving up US online poker players on a major issue as another Adelson banning threat evolves.

The Alliance says that it has recently learned that the Las Vegas Sands group land gambling magnate Sheldon Adelson is currently urging state attorneys general to sign a letter calling for a national ban on online poker and other online gaming.

This would include already state-authorised intrastate only online poker, such as that now available in New Jersey, Nevada, and Delaware.

"The letter is cleverly worded to sound like it merely seeks clarification of the scope of the Wire Act, but it is really in support of a proposed federal bill to expand the Wire Act to ban online poker and online casino style gaming nationally – the Internet Gambling Control Act," the PPA says.

"Fortunately, many attorneys general have not committed to sign this letter and we want to keep it that way," the Alliance statement continues, urging  US poker players to oppose the move by sending a tweet to each and every state AG.

"We have made it so easy. You can tell the AGs who have signed the letter to reconsider their position, and you can encourage those who have not signed the letter to continue supporting licensed and regulated Internet poker," the Alliance says, providing a list of those AG's that have signed Adelson's letter…and the more numerous list of those that have not.

Players who want to make their views known to their state AG need only click on the appropriate name on the list at this website:
