LIVE DEALER PROPOSITION IN THE PACIFIC

Commonwealth of Northern Marianas looking for investment in a new venture

The casino industry in the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas is seeking investors for a project that aims to pair live dealer internet action with several land casinos, according to Pacific Island Trade and Invest.

It is hoped that going online will help to expand revenue opportunities in the Western Pacific and compensate for the drastic tourism decline anticipated since the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear catastrophes hit Japan.

Japanese tourists form the bedrock of the Northern Marianas tourism industry.

The proposed online gambling platform will allow Internet users to gamble across the territory’s casinos in Saipan, Rota and Tinian, without having to physically visit each of these land venues.

The local Legislature is currently gearing up a revision of its laws to ‘legalise' online gambling, with a draft being prepared by the House Ways and Means Committee.  The country's casino operators have requested that specific and distinct legalization incorporating regulation for internet operations be presented.

PITI reports that there has already been some interest from investors in China and South Korea.
