 "The Grinder" as he is affectionately known, began his career when he left college to pursue a life as a professional poker player. He exploded on the scene when he won two World Poker Tour titles and Card Player's 2006 Player of the Year award. The Grinder is also a 2-time WSOP Players Champion, 3-time WSOP bracelet winner and is ranked 8th on the all-time money list with over $14,000,000 in lifetime earnings.

His career and popularity hit new heights in 2010, when he finished 5th at the WSOP Main Event after winning his first Players Championship that same summer, which some consider to be one of the most historic runs in WSOP annuls. He is also a DeepStacks Pro and the official ambassador for the Breeders' Cup, International Stadiums Poker Tour and the Turlock Poker Room (CA).
