Raid three separate premises operating under the guise of internet cafes
 
A Malaysian police raid led by Asst Supt Shaharudin Abdul Wahab led to the closure of another three gambling outlets in the main city of Mentakab.
 
The raid initiated on a tip-off netted three caretakers and twelve customers aged between 20 and 50 who were partaking in gambling activities.
 
A total of 38 computers, three modems and RM 614 were seized and confiscated.
 
Acting OCPD Supt Zundin Mahmood said: “We believe the outlets were operating as gambling dens under the guise of cyber cafes", penalties under the Common House Gambling Act carry a minimum fine of RM 10 000 per machine and/or up to five years in prison and owners of the premises will be subject to further investigations.
 
A total of 43 raids have been carried out by the team since September 1, resulting in the arrest of 44 managers, 196 customers and the seizure of 626 computers along with RM 10 025 in cash.
