73 arrested – set to be deported

The Philippines Tribune reports the arrest of 73 foreigners, from numerous countries, following a raid on a call centre in Makati City, Philippines.

The raid played out following an anonymous tip-off that non-permit holders were working at a three-story premises as call centre agents for Super 7 Ventures.

Atty. Jose Carlitos Licas, BI Intel. Division Chief, confirmed it had subsequently transpired that the illegal foreign workers were working as online gambling agents for an illegal gambling syndicate masquerading as a call center business.

The raid formed part of the authority’s “Magsumbong” programme tasked to expose foreigners who are illegally living and working in the country, Licas said.
