Nevada Gambling Revenues Up in May 2014

Latest numbers show that The Strip enjoyed its biggest single-month increase so far this year.
 
The latest Nevada Gaming Control Board numbers show that in May 2014 Nevada gambling revenues were up year-on-year by 8.1 percent and constituted the biggest single-month rise on The Strip so far in 2014.
 
Strip casinos collected almost $593 million, a 17.3 percent increase compared to May 2013.
 
Nevada casinos statewide collected $970.3 million in the month, with the state’s three online poker websites pulling in $862,000 during May, which was an 8.8 percent increase over April 2014 results.
 
Casinos in other regions of Nevada did not do as well as The Strip, with losses reported from downtown, North Las Vegas, Laughlin and the Boulder Strip.
 
On The Strip, it was again baccarat and high rolling gamblers that saved the day, with revenues up 85.5 percent to $172.4 million and a lucrative 16.5 percent win rate.
 
The state collected $56.2 million in gaming taxes during June, based May’s gaming revenue figures, which was a decline of 2.43 percent.
