MISSISSIPPI DFS BILL ADVANCES TO SENATE

Passes through House on motion to reconsider

Mississippi House Bill 967, authored by Representative Richard Bennett, will move to the Senate following its passage through the House.

The bill’s passage was denied on a vote Wednesday last week, however, passed on the Thursday after a motion to reconsider was filed.

Mississippi became the fourth US State in May 2016 to authorize daily fantasy sports. HB 967 establishes the rules and regulations under which DFS companies may operate.

Operators will be regulated and licensed by the Mississippi Gaming Commission (MGC), who will be authorized to conduct annual audits.   In addition, an 8 percent tax will be imposed on DFS operations.
