Mississippi's 2014 legislative session will include hearings and discussions on internet gambling said House Gaming Committee Chairman Richard Bennett, R-Long Beach.

Bennett said in an interview with the Sun Herald newspaper that if and when lawmakers act, he will propose only companies that own casinos in Mississippi be eligible to be licenced to launch online gambling.

“I don’t want to be holding the ball on this. I want to be out front,” Bennet told the Sun Herald.

Persistent State Rep. Bobby Moak, who has introduced proposed online gambling legalization over the past two years, is going to take another swing at it in the 2014 session.  "You have to take some risk," he said as he looks toward the future prospect of internet gambling boosting the state treasury.
