Friday April 18,2014 : MOBILE ON A ROLL IN THE SOCIAL CASINO SECTOR
Latest Eilers Research shows 46 percent of social casino activity is now through the mobile channel.
If you haven't yet assimilated the message, now's a good time to start – mobile rocks and continues to gain ground as the delivery channel of choice for many internet punters.
The latest Eilers Research report on the channel underscores how important mobile is to social casino operators as well as sportsbetting and online casino management, with the startling news that 46 percent of online social casino gambling activity was transacted through the mobile channel in Q1-2014.
That's a 13.8 percent increase over the previous Q4-2013 and in itself an indication of strong growth, but seen against the backdrop of Facebook's mere 0.8 percent of revenues in the segment it is even more telling – the punters are switching increasingly to the mobile medium.
Caesars Interactive Entertainment is still king of the castle on the social casino scene with a Q1-2014 market share of 17.8 percent – up a strong almost 16 percent on the preceding quarter thanks to its integration of Pacific Interactive. Trailing somewhat in second place is IGT, who's DoubleDown Casino market share is up 1.6 percent and now commands 11.2 percent of the market.
The once mighty Zynga is way behind on a market share of 8.8 percent in the social casino-poker segment, and has fallen behind on the previous quarter by almost 3 percent. The San Francisco giant is being chased by Game Show Network's Bash Gaming, which has carved out 8 percent of the market for itself and can be regarded as a significant rival.
The last of the top five companies in the sector is Big Fish Gaming, whose proprietary branded social casino managed to corner 5.1 percent of the market…almost all of that delivered through the mobile channel.
