Mohegan Sun Casino Launches Online in New Jersey

Tuesday July 21,2015 :  MOHEGAN SUN IN ONLINE GAMBLING DEAL WITH RESORTS

Casino enters the New Jersey online market under the Resorts licence.

The New Jersey online casino market added another brand Monday with the launch Mohegan Sun Casino.com, an offshoot of the famous US land casino.

The new operation is the result of a collaborative deal with Resorts and uses the same NYX i-gaming platform and New Jersey licence, reports the publication PlayNJ.

NYX Gaming has also inked an agreement with Golden Nugget and will be supplying its online casino software by the end of the year as the company transitions away from original partner Bally Technologies

PlayNJ explains that Mohegan Sun took over the management of Resorts Casino in August of 2012, and is the second brand to operate under Resorts interactive gaming licence. New Jersey licensees are permitted to operate up to five brands on a single licence.

Resorts also has a deal with Pokerstars, contingent on the latter obtaining a New Jersey licence, an achievement the online poker giant has yet to secure after more than a year following its application.

There is speculation that, in collaboration with Resorts, Pokerstars could launch in the New Jersey online market as soon as Q3-2015, but that has not been confirmed by either the regulator or the company.

Given the high awareness of the Mohegan Casino brand, interactive marketing head Lee Terfloth expects the new online venture to quickly grow and secure a significant market-share.

Resorts' own NYX-powered online operation was launched in February this year and, despite being late into the market, is doing surprisingly well, in June capturing 4 percent of the market with revenue of $400,000  after climbing steadily from launch.
