Friday August 24,2012 : SECOND ONLINE POKER OPERATOR LICENCE APPROVED IN NEVADA (Update)

Monarch land casino's application successful

It was not only South Point Poker that benefitted from the Nevada Gaming Commission's intrastate licensing hearing Thursday  the Reno-based Monarch Interactive Inc., a subsidiary of a land casino operator, was also approved as an operator.

Monarch is likely not as far advanced in its planning as South Point, which hopes to go live in Nevada by October, powered by its own software. The company has already undergone an extensive technology testing program whilst its application was being considered.

Both companies will have to survive intensive independent technology testing and a possible final review by Nevada regulators before going live with real-money online poker.

Global Cash Access Holdings, Inc., was licensed to provide online payment services at Thursday's NGC hearing.
