The MPN Poker Tour has returned to Morocco this week (January 11-14), featuring the MAD 1.5 million guaranteed Main poker Event, accompanying side events, and the activities and parties for which this tour has now become known on two continents.
Hosted at the glamorous Mazagan Beach Resort, the unlimited re-entry MAD 6,000 (€550) Main Event attracted 114 entries yesterday for Day 1a, with 33 making it through all 12 45-minute levels and into Saturday’s Day 2.
Leading the Day 1a survivors is recent WSOP Global Casino Championship winner Said El Yousfi with 272,000 chips, his nearest competitors Hans Christian Fjaervoll (202,900) and Morgan Lechatellier (165,300). Also making it through was Soufiane Ouadoudy, currently lying in 5th in chips. He is no stranger to success here at Mazagan, having finished as runner-up the last (and first) time the MPNPT came to Morocco, winning MAD 200,000.
Those eliminated have the option to tackle the Main Event today afresh or set sights on tonight’s MAD 1,100 Win the Button event or the MAD 22,000 High Roller tomorrow. Last night’s last-chance live MAD 550 satellite awarded eight entries into Day 1b of the Main Event, and the winners, along with the majority of the MPNPT online qualifiers (representing 16 countries) take their seats at 13:00 today.
The inaugural MPNPT Morocco Main Event, in November 2016, saw a total field of 312 generate a prize pool of MAD 1,508,350, with Sebastien Compte taking the top prize of MAD 280,000 (c. €26,000). Archives from the 2016 live blog and current updates along with full Day 1a chip counts can be found on the MPN Poker Tour blog.
