MPNPT Sunny Beach Main Event

Life's a Beach for Grönvik As He Leads Day 1A Survivors at MPNPT Sunny Beach. Yesterday saw the kick-off of the MPNPT Sunny Beach Main Event, which drew 110 entries away from the myriad entertainments of the Bulgarian seaside resort and into the Platinum Casino for Day 1A.

Declan Rice, Johan Palokangas and Peder-Aage Paulsen were among the players who eschewed the beach in favor of taking their first shot at the €500 + €50 NLH poker tournament, which runs July 5-8 at the Platinum Casino in Sunny Beach, Bulgaria. Chip leader at the close of play was Paf online poker qualifier and MPNPT regular Mikael Grönvik on 217,200. In all, 41 players survived Day 1A and will progress on to Saturday’s Day 2.

Away from the tables, yesterday also saw the legendary MPNPT Players Party take place at the open air Alibi Beach Club just steps away from the casino. Players continued to enjoy cocktails, canapés and club hits in the balmy sea breeze long after play concluded.

Today sees the second and final Main Event starting flight begin at 12.30pm local time, although those who partied into the early hours at the Players Party will be pleased to know that registration and re-entries for the Main Event remain open right up until the start of play on Day 2 tomorrow. Should the worst happen, today also sees the €100 + €100 + €20 MPNPT Super Knockout side event at 6pm, as well as cash games to suit all pockets.
