Day 1b of the MPN Poker Tour 2017 Tallinn Main Event easily surpassed the tournament’s €150,000 guarantee on its own. Yesterday’s 416 entries brought the total number so far up to 522, leaving the prize pool in excess of €200,000 with registration still open until start of play today at 13:00.
Terje Torstensen Chip Leader Heading into Day 2 of the MPNPT Tallinn Main Event
The €550 MPNPT Main Event runs at the Olympic Park Casino, Tallinn, October 19-22, with a full complement of side events. The international field brings together returning champions like last year’s Tallinn winner Ranno Sootla, MPNPT stalwarts Julie Whitworth, Johan Palokangas, Phill Huxley, Monika ‘HeyMonia’ Zukowicz and Dara O’Kearney in contention across the baize alongside local and globe-trotting amateurs, pros and a host of online qualifiers.
With all Day 1 chips bagged, it’s still Day 1a’s top stack holder Terje Torstensen, with 357,200 chips, in the overall chip lead. Putting in a good performance yesterday, however, were Maksims Aleksandrovs (249,800), Thanh Doan (212,700) and Sami Turpeenoja (199,900). All 156 returning players will benefit from extended one-hour blind levels as they play down to the money bubble and beyond.
Side events began last night with a €55 Turbo Rebuy poker tournament, which attracted 81 entrants and awarded just shy of €11,300 in prize money, and sides will continue today with the €220 MPNPT Omaha Cup (18:00) and Day 1 of the €110 MPNPT Estonia Poker Cup (19:00).
