The Chicago Bulls have been forced to play without their star player so long that it’s not unreasonable to think that they’ve actually learned to live without him. Such is the case for this year’s squad, but also last year’s as well. A legitimate force in the East with or without Derrick Rose, it’s time we start considering this team as a serious NBA betting option.
This Thursday the Bulls will play host to Dwight Howard and the Houston Rockets. The Western Conference visitor is a force to be reckoned with in its own division, but a solid gauging tool for a team like the Bulls to measure just what they’re capable of.
This year’s Bulls team has seen big man Joakim Noah rise to new heights, but more valuable than any individual progression has been their cohesion as a team. That may not make them the most marketable team in the league, but it makes serious sports fans and wagerers think twice about their 40/1 odds of winning the NBA championship.
Throughout the 2013-14 campaign, the Bulls have stayed competitive enough in their conference that home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs is within reach. If Chicago knocks around the Howard and the Rockets in primetime will everybody else finally start taking notice?
