Olympic Betting Approved in Nevada

Saturday February 28,2015 : NEVADA REGULATORS VOTE TO ALLOW SPORTS BETTING ON THE NEXT OLYMPICS

Silver state to follow the international trend.

The next Olympics will see Nevada punters allowed to bet on sports events following a positive vote by the state regulators Thursday.

Industry veterans have recalled that Olympic betting was common two decades ago, and proved very popular.

The US division of UK bookie William Hill was quick off the mark following the regulatory approval vote, releasing odds on various events across a wide front almost immediately. Other bookmaking firms are expected to quickly follow with their offers, which will be subject to scrutiny by the Nevada Gaming Control Board.

Nevada Gaming Commission chief Tony Alamo said that the policy had the blessing of the International Olympics Committee and follows similar arrangements around the world, where regulators share information with the Olympic authorities in order to guard against illegal wagering.
