Gambling revenue down 12.5 percent in January 2013
 
The Nevada Gaming Control Board reports that gambling revenue in the state was down 12.5 percent in January.
 
Nevada land casinos brought in $909 million during the month, the Board revealed.
 
Las Vegas Strip winnings dropped steeply by 19 percent to $507 million, whilst downtown Las Vegas revenues were a little better; down just 5 percent to $45 million.
 
Washoe County operations were down 2 percent to $53 million compared to the same period in 2012.
 
State tax receipts for the month came in at $68 million – a hefty 18 percent rise on the same period last year.
