New Mobile Games : April, May, June 2012


MOBILE GAMES : This past three-month review was dominated by the launch of a slew of the popular format Fast Fold Poker games, while internet, social and mobile presented new and exciting game releases leaving players spoilt for choice.
 
888 Holdings (Cassava Enterprises) released a new version of its 888 Roulette for iPad application into the iTunes store.  The app featuring American and French Roulettes now offers the European variant delivering high definition, crisp graphics and super smooth transitions on the go.
 
Sheffield-based start-up AlchemyBet launched its new mobile brand "Pocket Fruity", a mobile casino slot game destination themed around the original fruit machine slot format.  Featuring high definition and  HTML5 technology, Pocket Fruity is available in both download and Flash and is compatible with most smartphone platforms. Its growing portfolio comprises "Cop the Cash", "Snake Charm", "777 Heaven", "Grand Master Cash", "The Purse of Tutankhaman", "Spaced Out", "Lucky Charm" and its latest release “Cash and Mouse”.
 
Aussie game developer Aristocrat's latest apps are its thirteenth and fourteenth on the iPhone medium.  Providing a mobile version of a land gambling favourite in the form of the 5-reel Tiki Torch slot for a fee of $1.99, this game has a social networking element where players can compare stats and scores through Facebook, Twitter and the Apple Game Centre.  Wild Panda, is a play-for-fun adaptation of the wild and popular 5-reel slot machine game of the same name, it also retails for $1.99.
 
The company’s latest contribution is an iOS slot titled “Diamond Destiny”.  It is Aristrocrat’s first app to use standalone progressive meters. The game is a fun throwback to an old school traditional slot theme filled with Cherries, Bars and 7s with a 4-Level Progressive Jackpot and two bonus features.
 
A new mobile game app from DigiDeal Corporation titled "Pocket Pickit Poker" was made available for download in both the iTunes App Store and the Google Play/Android Market.  It is the mobile version of the company's electronic casino table game Pikit Poker, a five card stud poker game played against a dealer's hand that features three side bets.
 
Gamoz launched the InstaPoker app for iOS platforms.The app is a poker strategy game that records and evaluates the user's play, rewarding it with virtual currency. The app does not need an internet connection and provides hand set-pieces designed by professional players, along with assessments of the right – and wrong – strategies in order to triumph.
 
Online mahjong specialist Mahjong Time launched its Mahjong Time Mobile iOS app for the iPhone and iPad, enabling players to connect to the game from Apple mobile devices.
 
Microgaming’s newly launched suite of 11 HTML5 games features ‘swipe and tap' interfacing and rich-featured graphics.  The suite of 11 includes photo-realistic high quality versions of the Isle of Man-based firm's popular blackjack and roulette; some of the most popular Microgaming slots like Tomb Raider, Thunderstruck and Mermaids Millions; and a number of video poker games.
 
The Santa Monica, California-based games software developer Mobile Deluxe launched a free-to-play iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch blackjack game that features multi-hand and tournament play for both amateur and experienced players. “Big Win Blackjack” is on offer in an ad-sponsored virtual casino where players can also purchase chips and premium content.
 
Net Entertainment expanded its iOS-based mobile range of games, adding two new slots branded Victorious Touch and Flowers Touch.  The new games join a widening range of mobile games launched since the end of 2011 that include Gonzo’s Quest, Jack Hammer and Blackjack, with more promised this year for both iOS and Android devices.  Both games have been optimized for full screen, and the simplified keypad and navigation ensures intuitive user interaction.
 
A play-for-fun version from NextGen Gaming of its five-reel, 25-payline slot "The Snake Charmer" was released to accompany its "Dr. Love" app in the Apple iStore.  The company's second app is free to download directly to players via Apple’s App Store and is designed for the iPhone specifically operating in a similar manner to NextGen’s mini-game.
 
Online gaming software developer Play'n GO released six new mobile games, "Casino Hold'em", “Casino Stud Poker”, “Trey Card Poker”, “Triple Chance Hi/Lo”, “Scratch Ahoy” and “Hole in One” which bring to 24 the number of games in a portfolio developed for use on most Smartphone and Tablet devices using Apple iOS, Android, Blackberry or Windows 7 operating systems.
