New Jersey gambling ring broken up as sixteen people are arrested
 
Enforcing the no-sports-betting federal rules in New Jersey, state enforcement officials arrested and charged sixteen people in an operation against a Monmouth-based online sports betting enterprise this week.
 
Officials seized over half a million dollars in cash and 12 vehicles after executing warrants across four New Jersey counties and in New York City in an action dubbed "Operation Shore Bet" which is based on 18 months of investigative work.
 
A number of state agencies were involved in the investigations, including the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, the New Jersey Department of the Treasury, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office, Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office, and the Asbury Park, Deal, Freehold Township, Howell, Marlboro, Ocean, Red Bank and Wall Police Departments.
 
High, million dollar bail rates were set for several of the accuseds, who face a variety of illegal gambling and racketeering charges.
