Judge Shipp sets down November 20 for oral arguments – a day before his temporary restraining order expires.
 
The latest clash in the New Jersey vs. US sports leagues litigation over sports betting has been set down for November 20 by presiding judge Michael Shipp.
 
Earlier this month Shipp granted a temporary restraining order to the leagues, stopping the Garden State's attempt to immediately introduce sports betting in its tracks until November 21.
 
Shipp has also issued an addendum to his order, closing a door that was originally open for betting on sports other than those covered by the dissenting sports leagues, such as MMA Fighting, soccer and tennis, in his TRO.
 
The addendum represents a remarkable about-turn by Judge Shipp, who earlier told Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association legal adviser, Ron Riccio that his TRO was binding only on bets taken on sports which the plaintiffs – the NFL, NCAA, and three other sports organizations – represented.
