First regulated Canadian jurisdiction to offer live betting
Online gaming software supplier Openbet has extended its partnership with the British Columbia Lottery Corporation enhancing its online sports offering with added sports, leagues and tournaments on its Play website making British Columbia the first regulated Canadian jurisdiction to offer new betting options such as live betting.
Paddy Power will supply Play Now Sports' odds services with the delivery of to-the-second market and price information which OpenBet’s LiveServ and LiveOdds will publish directly to the users’ browser in real-time.
French-based operator Pari Mutuel Urbain has a similar arrangement with OpenBet utilising Paddy Power odds services.
David Loveday, chief executive officer at OpenBet, said: "After helping BCLC become the first jurisdiction in North America to offer legal online casino games in 2010, we are excited to be involved in the next phase of their offering. BCLC wanted a software provider that allowed them the flexibility to upgrade their offering as regulation developed and we have provided them with the support and expertise needed to do just that”.
Rhonda Garvey, vice president of eGaming, added: “Working with OpenBet and Paddy Power provides us with the expertise to deliver the very best sports betting products for our players and one that very few companies in the world have the expertise to deliver. Our players now have access to a much wider variety of sports on a site that is safe, secure and regulated”.
