Wednesday May 23, 2012 : BWIN SECURES FIRST SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN LICENCE
One down, two to go
bwin.party Digital Entertainment has cause for celebration with the award today of an online sports betting operator licence from the Minister of Interior in Schleswig-Holstein.
The licence, valid for six years, is effective immediately and the company has confirmed it will pay a 20 percent tax rate on gross gaming revenue.
Norbert Teufelberger, bwin.party’s co-chief executive officer said: "Schleswig-Holstein’s regulatory regime represents an important step in building a vibrant and competitive German online gaming market. This EU-compliant regime is a fundamentally important step to protect consumers and keep out black market operators in Germany.”
The firm awaits confirmation of separate licence applications for online poker and casino.
