bwin.party Digital Entertainment has cause for celebration with the award today of an online sports betting operator licence from the Minister of Interior in Schleswig-Holstein.
 
The licence, valid for six years, is effective immediately and the company has confirmed it will pay a 20 percent tax rate on gross gaming revenue.
 
Norbert Teufelberger, bwin.party’s co-chief executive officer said:  "Schleswig-Holstein’s regulatory regime represents an important step in building a vibrant and competitive German online gaming market. This EU-compliant regime is a fundamentally important step to protect consumers and keep out black market operators in Germany.”
 
The firm awaits confirmation of separate licence applications for online poker and casino.
