Steve O’Dwyer Wins PCA HighRoller

Steve O’Dwyer is $1.8 million wealthier this morning.
 
Ireland-based poker pro Steve O'Dwyer (32) has boosted his bank balance by $1.87 million after winning the $100,000 buy-in Super High Roller competition at the Pokerstars Caribbean Adventure tournament.
 
The former US professional bested software businessman and amateur player Roger Sippl in the heads up to claim the prestigious title after surviving a 66 entry-strong field heavily populated by top international poker aces. The field generated a record prize pool of $6,402,000.
 
The final table was a star-studded affair with international representation, comprising O'Dwyer, Roger Sippl, Bryn Kenney, Andrew Robl, Scott Seiver and Jake Schindler from the United States; Germany's Christoph Vogelsang; and Canadians  Sorel Mizzi (chip leader) and Sam Greenwood.
 
Other entrants who did not make the final table included Dan Shak, Mike McDonald, Cary Katz, Daniel Colman and Bill Perkins.
 
Bryn Kennedy's elimination at third for $873,880 cleared the way for the O'Dwyer vs. Sippl heads up, with O'Dwyer holding a chip advantage of 11.8 million vs. 4.6 million, leverage the Irish pro quickly and efficiently developed into a win.
 
Sippl's very creditable performance in a stellar field was rewarded with a runner up prize of $1.34 million.
 
It's been a profitable two months for O'Dwyer, a former European Poker Tour Grand Finale winner who recently took down the Asian Pacific Poker Tour Super High Roller, scoring another seven-figure prize to bring his live tournament career income to just over $9 million, with an unknown but reportedly significant further amount won online in a remarkable playing career.
