UK GAMBLING COMMISSION APPOINTS NEW CHAIRMAN

Philip Graf has been named as the new Chairman of the UK Gambling Commission.  The appointment includes the role of Chairman Designate of the future body to be created by the merge of the Gambling Commission and the National Lottery Commission.  The appointment commences at the beginning of April 2011 and runs for five years.
 
Graf, a Cambridge law graduate, currently holds the position of Deputy Chairman of Ofcom which ends on 31 December 2011.  He previously held the position of Chief Executive of the Trinity Mirror Group, is a former Chairman of the Press Standards Board of Finance (the body which funds the Press Complaints Commission) and of the Broadband Stakeholder Group (the advisory group to the Government on the promotion of broadband services).  He is currently an associate of Praesta Partners LLP, and a Deputy Chairman of Crisis, the homeless charity
 
 The position will see Graf receiving a remuneration of GBP 550 per day for two to three days, on average, per week.
