Foreigners accused of operating an illegal online gambling venture in Manila

Eight foreign nationals – mostly Malaysians – will shortly be on their way home as deportees following a police raid Friday on a Manila, Philippines condominium which broke up an online gambling ring.

The eight men were detained and handed over to the Bureau of Immigration after they were arrested by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation for operating an illegal online casino, reports the local publication Tempo.

Immigration Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. said the foreigners are now detained at the immigration jail in Bicutan, Taguig.

David said the foreigners will undergo deportation proceedings for being undesirable aliens and violating the conditions of their stay as tourists.

“After deporting them they will be placed in our blacklist to prevent them from returning to the Philippines,” the BI chief added.
