Manitoba province's Playnow site expands its offer to prop betting.
 
Online gamblers in the Canadian province of Manitoba will be able to place prop wagers on the results of the Oscars this year as the provincial online gambling site Playnow.com expands its public offering.
 
Regulator Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries is expanding its list of gambling options just in time for one of Hollywood’s biggest nights – the 87th Academy Awards, which take place this Sunday..
 
“It’s a great opportunity to capitalize on the excitement the entertainment and the thrill of watching the Oscars,”  a Playnow spokesman said this week, revealing that oddsmakers have their selections in place, enabling punters to see how the nominees in each category are ranked.
 
Spokesman Chris Fairclough said Thursday that "tens of thousands" of Manitoba residents had registered on the internet gambling site, creating the potential for some serious wagering on the Hollywood event.
