Friday January 11, 2013 : FIFTEENTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR OF GROWTH FOR P.M.U.

French land and online gambling group reports that internet revenues reached Euro 1.7 billion

Fifteen years of consecutive growth – which French online and land gambling group Pari-Mutuel Urbain can claim on its 2012 results – is an outstanding performance that many gambling groups will envy, especially in the United States.

This week the former state monopoly racked up 2.5 percent growth in a competitive market, with the online operations of the company contributing Euro 1.7 billion in revenues – an impressive growth rate over the previous year of almost 23 percent.

Gross gaming revenues in the online division soared just over 16 percent to Euro 270.1 million.

Mobile betting again proved profitable for the company, assisting sports betting wagers to grow by 62 percent to Euro 162.5 million.

Running positively against a generally negative industry trend in online poker, and despite heavy French taxation, PMU's internet poker revenues grew by a creditable 39 percent to Euro 518 million, whilst online betting on horse racing amounted to Euro 972.1 million – an 11.1 percent improvement over 2011.
