Interest in poker movie exceeds expectations
BET RAISE FOLD the online poker movie that has been three years in the making funded by high stakes online poker professionals achieved a $20 000 target through the Kick Starter fundraising vehicle in just two days.
As we went to press, the project had exceeded its target three days in to its 30 day window achieving 351 backers, $24 126 pledged with still 26 days to go.
The movie due for launch on June 30, 2013 captures the subculture of the online poker community and the rise and fall of the online poker boom following US Department of Justice action widely known as Black Friday.
The funds raised through KickStarter will be used for finishing, distribution, final licencing fees for video and music and marketing costs. The team plans on using any additional money raised to fund "stretch goals" such as expanding the depth of a theatrical tour and "creating some fun stuff – maybe a custom deck of cards, or a short webisode called "The Legend of Isildur1."
