Online gambling giant continues its penetration into the live poker room sector
 
The rumours and speculation of recent weeks are true – Pokerstars confirmed Thursday that it is to launch its next Pokerstars LIVE venture at the City of Dreams on Macau.
 
“The PokerStars online brand drives more traffic to live poker events than any other,” said Danny McDonagh, PokerStars Director of Live Operations for Asia-Pacific.
 
“Players know that PokerStars is synonymous with integrity and high quality. That makes this collaboration a natural fit because City of Dreams has been at the forefront in providing the most innovative and premium gaming experience that is second to none in Macau."
 
Although he could not give a completion and launch date, McDonagh said the 13-table room will be located on the main casino floor of the City of Dreams Casino, a property along the Cotai Strip in Macau, owned and managed by Melco Crown Entertainment.
 
The room will offer both cash games and tournaments, and major promotions such as Pokerstars' Asia-Pacific Poker Tour, the Macau poker festival, the Asia Championship of Poker, the Macau Poker Cup series and the Macau Millions will in future be hosted by the new facility.
 
Pokerstars has already launched a LIVE poker room at the Gran Madrid Casino in the Spanish capital, and a LIVE poker room at the Hippodrome in London is due to open its doors on March 4
