Pokerstars Sets New Online Player Record

50 billionth hand promo draws in 105,230 cash game players simultaneously.

The recent 50 Billionth Hand promotion at Pokerstars pulled in 105,230 cash game players simultaneously on September 22nd, setting a new online poker site attendance record, reports the independent statistical monitor Pokerscout.com.

The previous record – 103,010 players – was set in February this year, when the 40 Billionth promotions were at their height.

With the 50 billion celebrations and one of the most successful WCOOP online tournaments just completed, Pokerstars is on something of a roll at present, with Pokerscout noting that the giant site has achieved double digit growth in recent weeks.

The statistics site observes that the liberalised French market, in which Pokerstars is involved with a dedicated site, has also improved business. It is thought that French action could comprise as much as 8 percent of global online poker activity.

Pokerscout reports that Pokerstars has maintained its leading market share with double the player base of nearest rival Full Tilt Poker.

Despite difficulties with global economies, and the efforts in some countries to curtail online poker operations, the industry continued to grow, with player numbers up 7 percent so far this year.
