Pokerstars UK and Ireland Poker Tour Edinburgh leg attracts 612 entrants

It was a Brazilian celebration in Edinburgh this week when Nicolau Villa-Lobos triumphed in the main event of the Pokerstars UK and Ireland Poker Tour, besting a field of 611 to claim the top prize of GBP 101,000.

The GBP770 buy-in did little to deter a large entry field that included top pros like Vladislav Donchev, David Vamplew and James Sykes, all of whom made the final table, along with Przemysław Dajer, Chris Derrick, Guido Braye and Christian Bergstrom.

Villa-Lobos started as one of the low chip counts at the final table, but in a few hours he had become the dominant force on the felt, leading to a heads up clash with Donchev in which the Brazilian held a sufficiently big chip lead to despatch his opponent in short order, sending him home with the runner-up prize of GBP 61,000.
