Punta Cana Poker Classic Updates

Action is now underway on the poker tournament floor of the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in the Dominican Republic as the 2015 Punta Cana Poker Classic resumed play today at 3pm local time. All players from yesterday that made it to Day 2 can take advantage of a dozen pools, a spectacular beach, a world-class golf course, and more. Day 1B continues all day, with those who survive joining the 84 players who made it through Day 1A.

“We saw 229 entries hit the tables yesterday and we’re hoping to see even more than that today,” stated Americas Cardroom spokesperson Michael Harris. “We’re expecting to eclipse our $500,000 guaranteed prize pool yet again in our re-entry tournament.”

Day 1A concluded with Shiva Kapavarapu leading the pack with 229,400 in chips. The 84 players who move on to Day 2 have today off, though there’s no shortage of things to do at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.

But the focus now is on what’s happening inside. And while cards are definitely hitting the felt and chips are most certainly being shoved, judging from the general atmosphere on the tournament floor, you might confuse the Punta Cana Poker Classic Main Event for something completely different upon first entering the tournament room.

Yesterday’s Main Event saw a beer pong game break out near the entrance of the casino floor with CNN’s Homeless Millionaire Faraz Jaka, the acclaimed multi-million dollar winning poker player. What’s more, at the entrance of the tournament floor, players can jump into a dunk tank for the chance to win a package for next year’s Punta Cana Poker Classic Main Event.

The Punta Cana Main Event isn’t the only tournament on the schedule today. At 6pm, players can jump into a $300 Turbo Survivor event. That tournament runs nightly, up until and including Saturday. It’s part of a packed schedule of events that includes big tournaments like the $3,000+200 High Roller Event and smaller tourneys like the $125+15 Ladies Event.
