NOSEBLEED POKER TOURNEYS FOR LONDON

Posted 1/19/11 : PureProp is hoping to pull in the whales

With high stakes games and a prestigious venue, a new enterprise titled PureProp.com is hoping to pull in the high-rolling whales for some London-based poker action.

The company is promoting to a select audience of wealthy poker fans, inviting them to compete in cash games and tournaments at London's The Ritz Club Casino next (February) month.  Buy-ins are not cheap – one event will cost punters GBP54 000 to enter, with a Bugatti Veyron super-car worth over a million pounds sterling as a prize.

PureProp spokesman George Evans says that the firm will use a ladder system not unlike tennis clubs where the more a player wins, the higher up on the ladder he or she moves…and the greater the risk of coming up against a professional player.

Wealthy players are initially awarded a number of points on joining the club, based on their assessment of their skill at the game. This determines where they start to climb the ladder, the goal being to ensure that club members do not encounter professional players until they are experienced and skilled enough to handle the action.

The PureProp club will start with a global membership of 200 players, elected to membership by reference and invitation only. A membership debenture scheme – available to both playing and non-playing members – will enable members to share in the long-term success of PureProp.
