To Dallas Cowboys fans, this preseason is starting to look familiar. The Cowboys' wide receiving corps is getting pounded by injury and the offense looks out of sync. The fans are going to reserve judgment until the regular season begins, but not many people are thinking that Jerry Jones' prediction of a Cowboys' playoff berth is going to come to fruition. Jones makes that prediction every season, so he is bound to be right at some time. But most experts say that Jones needs to make some changes on his offense if he wants to make his bold statements come true.

The St. Louis Rams are in just about the best position an NFL team could be in. Even with the hiring of new head coach Jeff Fisher, no one expects the Rams to do much this season. A head coach like Fisher is usually given one or two years to start molding a team into a winner, and the fans will usually back off as they wait. But the Rams has already shown that it has some kick early in the Fisher era. Fisher is known for his ability to get the most out of his quarterbacks, and he knows that he has something special in Sam Bradford. Since the expectations are low in St. Louis this season, Fisher expects to blow those expectations right out of the water.

Dallas Cowboys

If you  bet on sports, then you know how unpredictable the Dallas Cowboys can be. But for the 2012 season, there looks to be a bright light glowing in Valley Ranch. The Cowboys' defense is showing significant improvement over last season and it has to do with the fact that defensive coordinator Rob Ryan was given a full offseason with his players. The Cowboys added some needed pieces through the draft and free agency, and now even the  experts can see the difference. The problem is that the offense continues to show a lack of development or improvement. Injuries are not helping, but it is also due to the personnel that is on the field.

St. Louis Rams

Jeff Fisher loves it when expectations for his team are low. The Rams have already shown improvement on defense, especially in the defensive secondary. The one thing that the Rams have not had is depth throughout the roster. In this preseason, it looks like Fisher is just as concerned with his depth as he is with his starters. A balanced team with a confident roster is something that will give the Dallas Cowboys problems.

The Bottom Line

The Dallas offense is in disarray while the defense is looking much better. But the defense still lacks significant depth in the secondary and across the defensive line. The Rams come into this game with nothing to lose and everything to gain. With Jeff Fisher as the head coach, the Rams will opt to gain as much as possible.
