Friday, October 21,2011 : Strong Growth For Gambling Group Rank Plc

The Rank Group plc (Rank) announced its interim results for the 16 week period to October 16, 2011, posting strong growth in its online and mobile gaming divisions.

Key online performance indicators include:

–     Rank Interactive revenue growth of 21 percent attributable to strong performance from Mecca Bingo.com.

–     Rank achieved strong growth in mobile gaming with revenues nearly trebling compared with the same period last year. Mobile gaming now accounts for 6 percent of Rank Interactive’s revenue.

The company overall posted flat revenue growth for the period which was attributed to lower attendance at its Mecca Bingo halls, lucky punters at its Grosvenor Casinos and its Spanish operation Top Rank España continuing its struggle, 19 percent down from the same period last year.

A statement from Ranks board said: “The Board is encouraged by the increasing popularity of the Group’s UK brands, with operational improvements driving growth in customers across Grosvenor Casinos and Mecca Bingo. While the outlook for the UK consumer in 2012 seems likely to be more challenging, Rank is in a strong financial position, possesses market-leading brands with multi-channel distribution and has a clear strategy for sustained long-term growth.
