Harry Reid Trying Poker Legalisation for third time

Saturday August 10,2013 :  REID READY FOR ANOTHER FEDERAL POKER-ONLY LEGALISATION PUSH?

Third time lucky?

Senate Majority Leader and Nevada Democrat Harry Reid may be setting up yet another attempt to get an online poker-only legalization bill through Congress, according to Las Vegas expert on gambling, Anthony Curtis.

Writing on his Las Vegas Advisor.com website Friday, Curtis quoted unidentified sources as revealing that Reid was ready to launch his third attempt at a federal solution that would comply with the wishes of land gambling moguls and the American Gaming Association, restricting legalization to online poker.

"After declaring the effort to pass a bill creating Federal oversight dead, Nevada Senator Harry Reid is preparing to introduce a new poker-only bill that’s believed to have the support (and votes) necessary to pass before the end of this year," Curtis wrote.

"Integral to the plan is a compact between Nevada and New Jersey that would establish a joint online-governing body between the two states."

Reid recently took a pessimistic view on the chances of two federal legalization measures making it through Congress this year, referring to an overall online gambling proposal by New York Rep. Peter King and a poker-only initiative by Texas Rep. Joe Barton
