Two for Rettenmaier
 
German poker ace Marvin Rettenmaier was the star of the evening at the inaugural European Poker Awards Tuesday night, held at the Aviation Club de Paris and sponsored by Global Poker Index.
 
Top woman player and commentator Kara Scott MC'd the event in which a variety of accolades were handed out, including a Lifetime Achievement Award to Gus "The Great Dane" Hansen.
 
But it was Rettenmaier's evening as his contemporaries and fans celebrated his achievment in receiving two awards during the ceremony – German Player of the Year and European Player of the Year.
 
Other awards among the 18 accolades handed out included one to Scott herself as Poker Personality of the Year; Jens Kyllönen as Best Internet Player; Davidi Kitai as Best Tournament Player; Ole Schemion as Best Rookie; Top Poker Staffer – Simon Trumper and Best Tournament of the Year – EPT Barcelona.
 
The honours included national Player of the Year awards as follows:
