William Hills Robbie Savage ad described as ambush publicity

William Hill's TV advert featuring BBC betting expert Robbie Savage ,also known as Mr. Marmite due to his ability to polarise opinions, was rejected this week by BBC rival ITV Sport in its programming on the FA Cup football.

The Daily Mail reports that William Hill is sponsoring ITV’s FA Cup coverage, but the company's TV ad featuring the BBC's Savage was taking ‘ambush publicity' step too far, prompting Will Hill marketers to review the situation and make appropriate changes for the third-round games.

A William Hill spokesman told the newspaper: "We’re in discussion with ITV regarding the editorial content of our new sponsorship. This is a normal process within the terms of our deal."
