December 27, 2012 : TIPP24 BETS GBP 10 MILLION ON ROBOREUS

Major stake obtained in location-based GeoSweep lottery game

The German online betting provider Tipp24 SE has acquired a major 25.7 percent stake in UK-based Roboreus Limited, developer of the virtual location-based GeoSweep lottery game, for GBP 10 million.

The deal follows an announcement earlier this year that the Multi-State Lottery Association’s Powerball Group had voted to add the British firm’s Treasure Hunt promotion to its US offerings.

Roboreus’ main product, GeoSweep exploits Google Maps to offer players the ability to select real-world places to notionally own on a game board that has been diced into millions of tiles branded ‘Geos’. These icons are used as location-based tickets with participants able to ‘buy' their house, where they were married, even their favourite sports stadium.

In addition, the software delivers a social gameplay component via its GeoGroups and Treasure Hunt features.

James Oakes, a spokesman for Roboreus commented: “With over a decade’s experience in the market, Tipp24’s credentials, especially in relation to marketing, user experience and customer retention, are unrivalled.

“Since Roboreus’ inception, we have been dedicated to creating a robust industry-respected gaming platform; Tipp24’s expertise in end-user experience will complement our existing strengths and help us make strides with the customer-facing side of our games.”

“Tipp24 and Roboreus have the shared aspiration of providing quality interactive offerings in a digital age,” said Hans Cornehl, CEO for Tipp24.

“We were impressed by Roboreus’ track record in creating a high-quality, technologically robust platform and believe that our expertise will enable the company to bring the next generation of innovative solutions to the market.”
