Romanian Priority legalization of online gambling

In an interview with the Romanian publication Casino Inside last week the head of the Romanian National Gambling Office, Mrs. Odeta Nestor, said that the legalization of online gambling was one of her top priorities.
 
Nestor, who has a reputation for dynamic and collegiate management, and has been active in canvassing industry views, said that her regulatory body has been researching and analysing the regulatory, licensing and taxation solutions developed by other national regulators in Europe.
 
The proposals that have been developed as a consequence of these studies will hopefully provide the best Romanian solution, she said, adding that work on a legislative proposal was well advanced and should see a draft submitted in the very near future, bringing about significant administrative, operational and taxation changes to the regulations governing the industry as a whole.
 
By setting up The National Gambling Office (Oficiul Naţional pentru Jocuri de Noroc, or ONJN) Romania has managed to centralise the entire activity related to the gambling sector (regulations, authorizing, controlling and monitoring) under the authority of a single institution.
