Ruben Visser Wins 10k Pokerstars EPT London

Sunday March 17,2013 : DUTCH VICTORY IN LONDON POKER TOURNAMENT

Visser takes home over half a million sterling

After six days of international-quality poker the GBP 10,000 buy-in Pokerstars European Poker Tour London tournament produced a winner over the weekend, with 24-year-old Dutch pro Ruben Visser emerging triumphant to claim the GBP 595,000 main prize after a two hour heads up against Mantas Visockis from Lithuania.

The international field of 647 players was distilled down to a final table that comprised Visser and Visockis, along with Olof Haglund, Theo Jorgensen, Steve O'Dwyer, Christopher Frank, Tamer Kamel and Chris Moorman.

Once the action reached the three-handed stage, Haglund, Visockis and Visser agreed a chop that left GBP 140,000 on the table for the ultimate winner, and play resumed.

Haglund went out in third for GBP 427,000, leaving Visser holding a massive chip advantage in the heads up against Visockis…but it still took two hours before the Dutchman could bring his opponent to bay and defeat him. Visockis collected a well-earned GBP 377,436 runner up prize for his efforts.

Also at EPT in London, the GBP 10,000 buy-in High Roller event concluded with UK player Talal Shakerchi taking the honours in an exciting six-hour finale.

Although holding the chip lead, Shakerchi faced a tough and star-studded final table that included Faraz Jaka, Fabian Quoss, Paul Volpe, Gautam Sabharwal, Vicky Coren, JC Alvarado, Eric Sfez and Dimitar Danchev.

Despite the talented opposition, Shakerchi managed to prevail, entering the heads up against Jaka with a 4 to 1 chip lead that ensured that the end was quick and clean.

Shakerchi claimed the main prize of GBP 436,330, leaving his opponent with a GBP 241,670 payday.
