Sam Razavi wins 2012 Pokerstars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour Melbourne

Tuesday, September4, 2012 :  BRIT THE WINNER IN APPT MELBOURNE

$326,125 pay day for Sam Razavi

Would be thespian and poker pro Sam Razavi from Britain took down the 2012 Pokerstars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour Melbourne main event Monday, besting a field of 256 other players to claim the first prize of $326,125, the title and the trophy.

The field distilled to a final table that comprised Razavi and Keith Walker, Tom Grigg (chip leader), Wayne Bentley, Gary Benson, James Bills, Kristian Lunardi, Nigel Andrews and Brendon Rubie.

Starting the day as chip leader, Grigg survived several challenges to enter three handed play with the advantage, which he continued to build, looking like a winner all the way. Then, in just two or three hands in which he clashed with Razavi, he was gone after being defeated all-in with Razavi's full house.

With a 3 to 1 advantage over his sole remaining opponent, Keith Walker, the Brit pro wasted no time in applying pressure and ushering Walker to the exit, and it was all over within 15 minutes.

Walker's second placing earned him a none-too-shabby $205,345.
