Pokerstars Spring Championship of Online Poker main event champion

5/19/10 – Ryan Fair, a poker pro from Florida, is $1 162 350 wealthier as the latest Pokerstars Spring Championship of Online Poker main event champion following the completion of the event yesterday (Monday).

It’s the biggest win yet for Fair, whose career stats include cashes at several major live tournaments.

The steep buy-in of $10 300 did little to discourage entrants, and a respectable field of 615 players signed up, generating a prize pool of $6 150 000.

Online railbirds were treated to some exciting action and displays of skill, but in the end the heads up saw Fair facing Kristoffer Thorsson across the felt, where the winner cannily used his chip lead to take the honours and the big winner’s check.

In similar fashion, SCOOP’s middle-level main event buy-in of $1,050+$50 attracted a strong and ambitious 3 675-player field, creating a mouth-watering $3.6 million prize pool. Player Mr.M.M0ney took the lion’s share of $443 137 following a agreed three-way chop with cooperz0311 and Athanasios9.

The SCOOP low-baller main event level predictably pulled in the largest field, with 19 188 hopefuls ponying up the $109 buy-in for the opportunity to chase a guaranteed million dollar prize pool. The winner, player midjat, lead almost the entire event, and claimed $191 892.

Pokerstars stats reveal that the 38 SCOOP events held over the past 2 weeks disbursed over $50 million in prize monies.
