Football Betting Ring Busted in Singapore

Illegal enterprise handled over S$200,000 in  wagers during first weeks of UEFA 2016.
 
The police in Singapore have released details of an online football bust on an illegal betting enterprise that handled S$200,000 (Euro 134,000) in wagers in the first weeks of the Euro 2016 championships.
 
In a news release on Sunday (Jun 26), the Singapore Police Force (SPF) said officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) conducted simultaneous raids at various locations, arresting 12 men and seizing SS$251,000 in cash, along with "an array" of computers, mobile phones and other evidence.
 
CID Specialised Crime Branch head Lawrence Eng said the police are determined to stamp out unlawful remote gambling, and will persevere with "tough enforcement efforts" against those who flout the law. He specifically warned online punters that placing bets on football games was illegal and risky.
